When the Dunne family came to us to help celebrate a very special golden wedding anniversary in Castlecomer, they had one simple brief: make it feel like a garden party, not a formal function. Fifty years of marriage deserved something warm, relaxed and full of colour — and their back garden, tucked just off the town square, turned out to be the perfect canvas.
Setting the Scene
The couple wanted their closest family and friends — around 60 guests in total — seated comfortably outdoors, with a plan B in case the Irish weather had other ideas (it usually does). We supplied one of our classic marquees to cover the dining area, so the party could go ahead rain or shine, alongside round tables dressed in soft gold table linen to match the anniversary theme.

The real showstopper, though, was a flower wall positioned just inside the garden gate. Guests arriving for the afternoon tea used it as an instant photo backdrop, and by the end of the day it had become the unofficial gathering spot for family portraits spanning four generations.
A Touch for the Little Ones
With grandchildren and great-grandchildren on the guest list, the family also hired a small bouncy castle for the side lawn. It kept the youngest guests entertained while the adults settled in for speeches, meaning nobody had to referee a bored toddler during the toast.
