Confirmation season brings some of the busiest weekends of the year for families across Leinster, and one recent celebration in Athy showed just how much a bit of planning and the right hire equipment can transform an ordinary back garden into a proper party venue.

The family wanted somewhere for grandparents, aunts, uncles and a gaggle of excited ten and eleven year olds to gather comfortably, rain or shine. No Confirmation celebration is complete without photographs, and the undoubted star of the day was a flower wall set up just inside the marquee entrance. Guests queued up all afternoon to get their picture taken in front of it, and it gave the Confirmation child a proper backdrop for photos with cousins, godparents and friends from school.

With so many young guests on the guest list, a bouncy castle was set up on a level patch of grass well away from the marquee and dining area. It kept the children happily occupied for hours, which in turn meant the adults could actually sit down, enjoy their meal and catch up properly — always the sign of a well-planned family party.
