A Milestone Birthday Worth Celebrating in Style
There is something special about a 60th birthday. It is not just another year — it is a milestone that deserves a proper celebration, and that is exactly what one Portlaoise family had in mind when they got in touch with us to plan a garden marquee party for their mother's big day. What followed was one of our favourite events of the season, and we are delighted to share how it came together.
Setting the Scene in the Back Garden
The family wanted their Portlaoise back garden transformed into a warm, welcoming space that could comfortably host sixty guests without losing that cosy, homely feeling. We set up one of our marquees with clear-panel sides so the summer evening light could pour in, then dressed the interior with warm white fairy lights along every beam and soft ivory drapes falling from the ceiling. It is a look we use time and again for guests across Portlaoise, Kilkenny and Carlow, and it never fails to make an ordinary garden feel like a proper venue.
Seating, Tables and All the Little Details
Round tables dressed in ivory linen were arranged around a small dance floor, with our classic banqueting chairs finished with simple sashes to tie the whole look together. If you are planning something similar, you can browse our full hire range to see the same tables, chairs and linen we used on the night.
The Flower Wall Photo Corner
No milestone birthday is complete without a proper photo moment, so we set up one of our flower walls in a quiet corner of the marquee. It quickly became the busiest spot of the night, with guests queuing up between courses to get their picture taken. It is a small addition that makes a big difference, and one of the easiest ways to add a wow factor to any party — take a look at the flower walls and event accessories we have available for hire.
Food, Drink and Comfortable Evenings
As the evening cooled down, our patio heaters kept guests comfortable well past midnight, while glassware hire meant the catering team had everything they needed without any last-minute dashes to the shop. It is these practical touches — glassware, tables, chairs, lighting — that often make the biggest difference to how smoothly a party runs, and they are exactly the sort of details we help families across Leinster plan for every week.
A Night to Remember
By the time the candles were blown out, the garden had been turned into a proper party venue, and the birthday guest of honour got the celebration she deserved. Whether you are in Portlaoise, Carlow, Kilkenny or anywhere in between, we would love to help you plan something just as memorable for your next milestone occasion.
